Wow!! We are so lucky here at Redbridge Primary School to have had 14 volunteers come in and share their job roles with us as part of our very first careers farye.
Volunteers came in with pictures, props and real working examples of what their jobs entailed. The children were able to ask about the pros and cons of the jobs, how they trained and what qualifications and personal attributes they needed.
A BIG thank you everyone who came in 🙂

For Children in Need we collected Pennies for Pudsey.
Thank you for the abundance of pennies you sent in to support us and Children in Need. As you can see from below, it made for quite an effective Pudsey!
We are in the process of counting the pennies up so watch this space for the total!
To Infinity and Beyond!!! |
We are the Learning Council we are going to talk about our learning of space.
We have been doing space raps and we have two to show you.
Hey I’m Venus,
I’m the second planet next to the sun,
I’m the hottest planet in the solar system,
I’ve got a volcano witch can go Ka-boom,
then fiery lava that can go over you.
I have no moon,
so I wish I could sleep soon,
and my volcanoes keep going Ka-boom.
I have a volcano which can go Ka-boom,
then fiery hot lava can go over you!
Yo, my name is Neptune,
I’m colder than ice,
I’m blue and mysterious,
so bring a umbrella I’m serious.
You can’t come to me because I’m so curious.
My rings are made of dark rock and dust,
so don’t come round here wanting to fuss.
We also made our own little planet and we also went to Intech science museum and showed our parents our home work and our learning to them.
World War 1 |
Hi, we are the Learning Council, our aim is to share our learning with the whole school and anyone else. Our job is to help learning in the school and improve it in anyway possible. Seeing as it is the centenary of WW1 we have been researching and finding out about what happened in WW1, finding interesting facts, and writing our own poems which are just below this. We also did a bit of homework in half term about World War 1, we found out facts about how the war was triggered and what kind of things happened.
This is a poem written by JN:
The Traumas of the Great War
It was the war. The First World War.
I was directed to war at such a young age,
resilient, clever and had a bright future,
but what I absorbed was death and trepidation,
I endured traumatic flashbacks from all but four years.
it was the war that disintegrated my heart,
without the friend or foe, I was forced to say goodbye,
it was the war that coerced my stomach to clench relentlessly,
in my head I saw the fallen friend and foe in nightmares through the night,
it was the war that pressured me to be traumatized horrendously,
tossing and turning throughout the night,
it was the war that made me incredibly hollow,
like dust on the pavement or maybe a shadow,
it was the war that made me vulnerable and fragile,
every little bang, made me jump and flinch,
it was the war that taught me to take pride,
in everything I did in my life,
it was the war that showed me friendship,
friendship took me to victory.
It was the war that made my country survive gleam and shine, gleam with pride.

Year 6 have been busy this half term responding to a request from Southampton City Library to provide the children’s section of the library with historical stories.
Although their stories all share the similarity of being set in Ancient Egypt, the children have all decided on their own plot, characters and writing style.
If you fancy a read, head along to the children’s section of Southampton City Library and enjoy!
Welcome to our blog! |
Hello world!
Welcome to Redbridge Primary School’s blog! We’re really excited to enter the world of blogging and can not wait to share all of our wonderful learning with you.
This week the whole school took part in ‘No pens Wednesday’. We sent Penny Pencil away for a day off and focused on our speaking and listening skills.
But after we recovered from our initial shock, we talked through and solved different maths problems.
We learnt the importance of being able to communicate and explain ourselves clearly.
